Experience
I have been teaching at Rogersville City School since 1992.
I have taught first grade and second grade while at RCS,
and
I also taught remedial reading classes at the college level for
several years. I love teaching second grade and am so thankful
to work with the best kiddos on the planet. I absolutely love my job!

I have been the president of the Rogersville Education Association since 2008.

Along with Mr. Sandidge, I currently plan and coordinate the Lower Grades
Academic Awards Ceremony each year.

In July 2017, I was chosen to serve on the State of
Tennesee
Department of Education Standards Setting Committee
for
the Grade 2 TN Ready Achievement Test. I spent a week
in Nashville with other educators from all across Tennessee as we
determined cut scores for the Grade 2 TN Ready test. Cut scores
are the criteria that the state uses to determine if students have
mastered grade-level skills on the annual TN Ready test.

In 2017, I authored a $25,000 grant that funded a Read to be
Ready Summer Reading Camp for rising 1st-3rd graders. I was the
director of our reading camp, which was an immensely rewarding
experience.

In 2018, I wrote a $30,000 grant that again funded RCS'

Read to be Ready Summer Reading Camp for Summer 2018.
It was my pleasure to direct our summer reading program and
work with
our outstanding summer camp teachers to plan an
exciting literacy program
for our 1st-3rd grade students who
attended camp.

I have recently been selected to serve on the October 2018 Tennessee
State Department of Education Range-Finding Committee for the Grade 3
TN Ready Achievement Test. I will be traveling to Nashville to serve on this
statewide committee that will give me more insight into how
TN Ready Achievement Tests are scored so that I can share this
knowledge with my RCS colleagues.
