Homework 

 *Our spelling test is on Thursday of each week. There is no retest in 2nd grade, but I will drop the lowest grade each 9 weeks.

*The spelling words for this week are: light, night, sight, might, fight, right, flight, fright, bright, tonight

*The spelling sentence counts as 3 test items: correct spelling, capital letter at the beginning, and correct ending punctuation. The sentence this week is: The light is bright.

*Bonus words count as one additional point each, but do not count against your student if they are spelled incorrectly. One of them (Rogersville, Tennessee) will be on the test all year so that your student always knows how to spell his/her hometown. This week’s bonus words are: and Rogersville, Tennessee

*Reading vocabulary words for this week are words that your child should be able to read by the end of the week. We will work on reading and understanding the meaning of these words all week. Your child will be tested on these words at the end of each week. These words are: cheered, concert, instrument, movements, music, rhythm, sounds, understand

*High frequency words are words that your child should be able to read fluently. The HF words for this week are: America, beautiful, began, climbed, come, country, didn’t, give, live, turned
