For the second year in a row, Rogersville City School's Girls' cross country team finished second in the Class A TMSAA State Championship in Clarksville on Saturday. Individual competitor on the boys' side, Brayden Brown, finished 14th in a field of 128 runners.
Only seven points separated the Warriors in the 16 team field from the number one spot claimed by Lake Road. All five runners for RCS are seventh graders and they all finished in the top 30 out of the field of 123 competitors. Lilla Harrell led the way for the Warriors as their number one runner finishing with ALL STATE accolades in 8th place with a PR in 13:46.80. She is the 1st female runner for RCS to garner this distinction since the inception of the TMSAA XC State Championships. What an impressive accomplishment. Newcomer Anna Mae Boyd finished only one spot out of ALL STATE distinction in 9th with a time of 14:04.53. Boyd was only six seconds off her PR and executed her race plan, keeping the gaps closed. Team captain Kenady Deal finished in the top 20 in the 18th position with a time of 14:20.19. Veteran Team Captain Elin Bryan also finished in the top 20 in the 19th spot only .40 of a second behind Deal in a time of 14:20.59. Bryan has worked in and out of season and bettered her last years state performance by 18 spots. Her endurance allowed her to work up throughout the race. Newcomer Molli Stuffle rounded out the scoring for the Warriors placing 27th with a time of 14:44.80.
8th grader Brayden Brown continued his stellar 8th grade season with his time of 12:29.45, earning the 14th spot. This was an improvement of 30 spots from his performance last year.
