Lady Warriors Make School History at State Sectional

Varsity Volleyball Team at state tournament

In its first ever state sectional appearance, the Lady Warriors set the bar high for the future.  Making it to the state sectional was in itself a feat never accomplished by the program, but this group of young ladies finished as the State Runner-up, falling to Grandview in the championship. 8th graders Jaclyn Cooper and Bevyn Hancock earned All-Tournament accolades. Finishing the season 16-6, Coach Michael Bowman couldn't be prouder.

“I’m very proud of these girls. They set a goal and worked hard to achieve it. Playing in the State Sectional has never been done at RCS before, yet found themselves in the championship game.  But what I am most proud of, greater than any win, is the way they conducted themselves this season, which did not go unnoticed by all who watched. Doing things the right way and being successful at it makes it all much sweeter!”

Although the team will lose ten 8th graders, RCS is looking ahead to next year's team with three of its 7th graders seeing varsity action this year.

Congratulations, Lady Warriors!
