Both RCS Girls and Boys Basketball teams opened their seasons with routs of visiting Fall Branch. The girls walked away with a 66-1 victory, and the boys finished with a 44-12 win.
Kenady Deal scored 32 points to lead the Lady Warriors and quickly moved to the top of the records book as her 8 3-pointers pushed her to the top of the RCS Career 3-Pointers list. In just the 1st game of her 7th grade season, she surpassed the 65 career 3-pointers held by former RCS stand-out Harper Russell (2012-2015). Deal now sits atop the list with 69 career 3-pointers. In addition, Deal broke her own record for threes hit in a game previously held at 6.
The Lady Warriors went on a 59-point run to start the game against Fall Branch. Rogersville City Warriors had a strong first half, leading 46-0 at halftime and never looked back, securing the victory.
Deal scored 15 points in the first quarter as Rogersville City Warriors outscored Fall Branch 26-0.
The Lady Warriors had a great day shooting from inside the arc, finishing 14-27 on twos. Deal and fellow 7th grader Rylee Sivert each hit multiple three-pointers.
The team shot 11-27 (41%) from beyond the arc and passed the ball well with 13 assists on 25 made baskets. 7th grader Molli Stuffle led the team with five assists.
Rogersville City Warriors' ball pressure forced 19 steals in the game. Deal led the team with five steals. Sivert (15 points), Addie Lawson (11 points), Lilla Harrell (3 points), Chloe Pearson (3 points), and Stuffle (2 points) also pitched in for Rogersville City Warriors.
On the boys' side, all players on the roster scored with 7th grader Cade Putnal and 8th grader Noah Lawson leading the team with 10 points apiece. 7th grader Zander Harris and 6th grader Jackson Davenport chipped in 5 points each. 8th graders Benson Willis and Aaron Munsey-Cook each scored 4 while Baylor Hancock (7th grade), Conner Lyons (7th grade), and 6th grader Keithan Wheeler contributed 2 points apiece.
RCS will play at Westview on Tuesday, November 13. JV Boys play at 5:15, Varsity Girls and Boys follow at 6:15 and 7:15 respectively.
