Mr. Rush's 8th grade science students have been learning about Sir Isaac Newton and his laws of motion, forces, gravity, friction, and motion.  Students applied principles of Newton’s Laws of Motion and their understanding of gravity to develop models that would prevent an egg from cracking when it fell.  Students followed the same thought process that scientists use when designing air bags, seat belts, and parachutes. This activity provided an illustration of how gravity is a noncontact force, which causes the egg to fall downward.
